The Conference will be held at historical Ipswich.  As Queensland’s oldest provincial city, Ipswich has a rich history.  It is renowned for its architectural, natural and cultural heritage.  Ipswich offers all the modern facilities and attractions of a progressive city.  Attractions include the Ipswich Art Gallery, the Workshops Rail Museum, steam trains, more than 500 parks, wineries, cafes, restaurants, cinemas and shopping centres.

The conference is being held from 1 to 4 September 2009, which is early spring in Australia. Days are usually mild to warm, with mean daily temperature ranges from 13–25 degrees Celsius (58–78°F) - great weather for sightseeing.

Venue information

Ipswich Civic Hall is the region’s premier function and conference centre and combines these duties with an extensive year round program of local, national and international theatre events.

Ipswich Civic Hall is situated in the centre of Ipswich City and is within easy walking distance to shopping centres, tourist attractions, restaurants and entertainment.

Travel

The City of Ipswich is only 45 minutes by road from Brisbane City, one hour from the Gold Coast and one hour from Brisbane Airport.

Brisbane airport is an hour drive from Ipswich City.  Bus Shuttle bookings can be made through the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre on telephone +61 7 3281 0555.  The cost of a shuttle bus would be approximately $43 one way and $86 return.

Ipswich can also be accessed using the Airtrain from the Airports or via Airport Express bus transfers.  For more information visit Brisbane Airport and Airtrain websites.
