Shooting (Pistol)

The weather was great and the range looked good as the Australian Police and Services Match Pistol Championship had been held here only weeks before.
The new course of fire was nice and short and easy to conduct and to score. The shooters were able to share equipment, put in good performances overall and generally had a good time.
The top pistol team in Australia were battling it out against each other for Police Games honours. A count back of bullseyes was necessary to determine third place at this level.
In the Service division Nigel (son of Trevor), showed the form which gained him medals in the Australian Championship and did his dad proud. New member Andy Webber is settling in with his H&K and is now starting to see some good targets scored.
And in the basic division, young Chris Mathiou showed he is listening to his dad, Bruce, at least some of the time; by putting in what was a very respectable score in any company.
This new short course with the international rules is going to be part of the World Police and Fire Games in Vancouver, August 2009 so the club will be conducting some similar practices in the lead up.
As the course was finished for the Police Games the normal club shoot was also conducted so some of us had a big day in good conditions and company. Thanks to the Police Pistol Club for hosting the event.
The Police Pistol Club would like to extend an invitation to visit the range and take part in the sport. It has some professional advantages for Police and is conducted in a safe, pleasant environment, good company, and an interstate and international spirit of sportsmanship.
