RULES

Horse Show Association of Australia (HSAA) rules will apply to all events except as indicated in the program.  Stallions are allowed to compete providing they are under sufficient control.  All horses are to be ridden in the correct equipment, including headgear for the class entered and all riders are required to wear correct attire as per HSAA Rules.  For the English and sporting events only, Police and emergency services personnel may wear either their service uniform dress or traditional riding attire.

Under HSAA Rules, a Maiden Horse is classified as a horse not having previously won a first place in that event.  An Open Horse is not subject to any restrictions based on age, height, breed or colour, that is the class is open to any horse.

In English classes, horses may be shown in a snaffle, Pelham (with 2 reins) or double bridle.  Dropped nosebands and martingales are not allowed in any HSAA classes with the exception of the Working Hunter where running martingales are allowed.  In Western classes, a Senior Horse (aged 6 and over) must be shown in a curb bit and ridden one handed.  Junior Horses (5 and under) may be shown in a snaffle bit (2 handed), curb bit (1 handed) or bosal.  A western saddle must be used.  In Australian classes, a stock saddle and Australian bridle must be used.

Participants will not be permitted to enter and ride more than one horse in any one event, with the exception of Working Hunter, Trail Horse, Western Horsemanship, Reining, Sporting Events and Working Stock Horse, where a maximum of two horses may be exhibited.  A horse can have one rider only in each class.
