Day 1 (Thursday, 18 October 2007) – Presentation of Papers
What are our current practices
Presentations commenced with Assistant Commissioner Ian Stewart welcoming and informing delegates of the current practices and procedures to manage harassment within the Queensland Police Service.
Presentations then continued with the first of our guest speakers, Christine Ronalds, S.C. who presented the findings of her review into sexual harassment and discrimination in the New South Wales Police Force.
The afternoon session then continued with a presentation by Ms Neroli Holmes, the Deputy Commissioner, Anti-Discrimination Commission Queensland. Ms Holmes presented on Litigation issues – ‘What Does This Mean For Employers’.
There was also a presentation delivered on issues impacting on agencies when harassment issues are not managed and Ms Trish Kendall examined how organisations can affect a cultural change in their work environment.
The afternoon concluded with a panel discussion that featured QPS representatives and representatives from government and non government organisations. These presenters gave a ten minute overview of their procedures, practices and emerging trends.
Day 2 (Friday, 19 October 2007) - Workshop
Future Best Practice – How can we do things better
A workshop was conducted on the second day of the conference by Mr Ross McSwan. Delegates were able to consider issues presented from day one and identify innovative strategies to enable workplaces to implement best practice policies and procedures to manage harassment in their working environment.
