MURDER OF |
REWARD:
The Minister for Police and Corrective Services has approved a reward of $250 000 be offered for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of April Bailey and Ian Bailey and the arson of the residence at 20 Warren Crescent, Deception Bay on 28 May 2004.
INDEMNITY FROM PROSECUTION:
In addition, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
The allocation of the $250 000 reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of the Police Service.
CIRCUMSTANCES:
At 2.05 pm on Friday 28 May 2004 the Queensland Fire Service were called to a house fire at 20 Warren Crescent, Deception Bay. On arrival the house was already well alight. During initial inquiries it was identified that two residents were in the house at the time of the fire. The four year old child of the female victim was located wandering in the yard of the offence.
Forensic and Scientific examinations have identified two deceased persons, April and Ian Bailey from remains located in the debris of the house. Examinations indicate that the persons were deceased prior to the time of the fire and that an accelerant was used on and around the bodies of the victims.
