REWARD:
The Minister for Police and Corrective Services has approved a reward of $250,000 be offered for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of a female person known as 'Bambi' at Gumdale on 28 December 2000.
INDEMNITY FROM PROSECUTION:
In addition, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
The allocation of the $250,000 reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of the Police Service.
CIRCUMSTANCES:
At about 8.47 pm on Thursday 28 December 2000 a 000 call was received at the Police Communications Centre Brisbane from a male person, who informed police that a child had arrived at his residence and complained that she had been assaulted and that her mother had been shot at 1369 New Cleveland Road, Capalaba West, an address known as 'the Shack'. On arrival police located the body of the female person known as 'Bambi', who had suffered gunshot wounds to her body. An x-ray revealed that the victim had been shot three times with a .22 calibre weapon. The victim's daughter had been abducted from the scene and taken to a location in bushland off Collingwood Road, near Haig Road Birkdale where she was assaulted. The child was able to supply police with a detailed description of her attacker, from which a com-fit image photograph was produced. To date this offender has not been located.
