REWARD:
The Minister for Police has approved a reward of $50,000 be offered for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Eric Cyril CRUST.
INDEMNITY FROM PROSECUTION:
In addition, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
The allocation of the $50,000 reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of the Police Service.
CIRCUMSTANCES:
At about 11.00am on Tuesday, 1 April 1997 the body of Eric Cyril CRUST, 78 years of age, an invalid pensioner living alone, was located on the verandah of his residence situated at 940 Samford Road, Keperra. A Post Mortem revealed that the victim died as the result of multiple injuries to the head, arms, hands and body. Two fingers were completely severed from the left hand. The injuries were inflicted by at least three weapons. The victim was last known to be alive at about 8.30pm on Monday, 31 March 1997 when he spoke to a friend on the telephone.
