$50,000 REWARD

REWARD:
The Minister for Police has approved a reward of $50 000 be offered for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Judith Elizabeth Mackay aged 7 years and Susan Deborah Mackay aged 5 years.

INDEMNITY FROM PROSECUTION:
In addition, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.

The allocation of the $50 000 reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner.

CIRCUMSTANCES:
Judith and Susan Mackay left their home at Aitkenvale, Townsville, at about 8.00am on 26 August 1970, to travel by bus to the Aitkenvale School. They did not arrive at School. On 28 August 1970, the bodies of both girls were found in a dry creek bed at Antil Plains approximately 100 metres off the Charters Towers Road, about 28 kilometres from Townsville.

Both girls had been strangled and then stabbed.
