REWARD:
The Minister for Police and Corrective Services has approved a reward of $250,000 be offered for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Cary-Jane Louise Pierce at Murarrie on or about 17 September, 1988.
INDEMNITY FROM PROSECUTION:
In addition, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
The allocation of the $250,000 reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of the Police Service.
CIRCUMSTANCES:
At about 10.25pm on 17 September 1988 Cary-Jane Pierce was last seen alive when she left the residence of her mother in Wambool Street, Bulimba. Her body was located on 2 October 1988 in bushland off Creek Road, Murarrie, near the Gateway Bridge. The area is commonly known as 'Rabbits Hill'.
Pierce had been struck on the back of the head with a rock that was common to the area. A strap from the canvas knapsack she was carrying was found bound tightly around her neck.
