REWARD:
The Minister for Police and Corrective Services has approved a reward of $250,000 be offered for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of 'Kenneth' Sheung Man SHUM at Redland Bay on or about 13 January 1987.
INDEMNITY FROM PROSECUTION:
In addition, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
The allocation of the $250,000 reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of the Police Service.
CIRCUMSTANCES:
At about 11.50pm on 12 January 1987 'Kenneth' Sheung Man SHUM was last seen driving a yellow cab, reg no. T26-911, cab no. 209 in Gordon Road, Redland Bay. There was a male passenger in this taxi cab. Investigations reveal that this male person may have hired SHUM's cab in the area of the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Annerley earlier in the night. This cab was seen to enter Giles Road, Redland Bay.
On the morning of 13 January 1987 SHUM's body was located in bushland near the water storage tanks off Giles Road, Redland Bay. SHUM had been shot three (3) times with a small calibre firearm which caused his death. SHUM had lacerations to his knuckles which indicate that he may have struck his killer/s in the mouth.
On 13 January 1987 SHUM’s cab was located at the intersection of Armuna and Temple Streets, Coorparoo.
