Application Process

What does the selection process involve?

The following diagram depicts what is involved in each stage of the selection process. This is to be used as a guide to how your application is being processed. Unless you have a specific enquiry, please do not contact the POLICE RECRUITING staff about the status of your application as this will significantly slow down the process.

You will receive written confirmation that your application has been received.

Stage 1: Minimum Application Requirements

Assessing your application against the minimum application requirements may take some time. When complete, you will receive written notification of your result. If you are successful, you will be allocated a date and time for your psychometric assessment and physical competency test.

Stage 2: Psychometric Assessment

On the day of this assessment, you will complete a cognitive ability test, a literacy indicator, and two personality questionnaires. The purpose of conducting these psychometric tests is to ensure that you have the necessary skills and personality characteristics to perform the requirements of a police officer. If unsuccessful, you will be offered personal feedback outlining areas that require further self-development before being considered as a police recruit.

Stage 2: Physical Competency Test

If you successfully complete the physical competency test your application will continue in the selection process.
