Monitor

Community participation in the development, design and implementation of factors affecting the local environment is crucial to the achievement of an optimum and safe living environment. This requires that strategies be developed with relevant authorities to ensure meaningful and ongoing participation and monitoring, by the community of outcomes of the Safety Audits process.

It is therefore suggested that nominated individuals or groups arrange to liaise with relevant authorities on matters related to Safety Audits on an ongoing basis. The role of these persons may include the development of a means of feedback to Safety Audit volunteer and the community generally on the outcomes of the Safety Audits.

One method of providing access for community members to check action taken by authorities is to provide copies of the local action plan for perusal at central locations such as the local government representative's office or the local library.
