Internet Warning
A respondent can discover your internet activities!
All browsers automatically collect and save details on sites you have visited on the Internet. A person who knows how to read your computer's history or cache file (automatically saved web pages) can access the resulting files to view your Internet activities.
The safest way to surf the Net without risk of your abuser tracking your Internet activities is to do so at a public library, a friend's house, or at your workplace. If using your home computer, delete the cache files in your computer in order to prevent other people from discovering your Internet activities.
The following information has been adapted from the American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence website (www.abanet.org/domviol/internet.html) to assist you in clearing the history or emptying the cache file in your browser settings. There are a number of browsers available and the information provided refers to the most common browsers. Should your browser not be listed below, it is recommended that you contact a computer specialist.
The Queensland Police Service, in providing this information, makes no representations nor gives any warranty or guarantee concerning the safety of persons or property.
