Same Sex Relationships

In Queensland, a person who is in a same sex spousal or intimate personal relationship is protected by the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act, 1989.

People in same sex relationships are entitled to the same protection, and subject to the same penalties, as any other person involved in a domestic or family violence incident.

Queensland Police Service has a number officers who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex Liaison Officers (LGBTI Officers).
