Inquirers' Guide - Step 3

Check List for Required Criteria

Prior to the introduction of any scheme, certain criteria will have to be satisfied. If any one of the listed criteria cannot be satisfied, then approval for the scheme cannot be granted.

It does not mean the end of your hard work, but rather, more a postponement of implementation until all criteria are satisfied.

The required criteria are:

  • Support of the Police District Officer
Unless exceptional circumstances are evident, this criteria is always in existence
  • Support of the Local Officer-in-Charge of Police
To be able to do each individual programme justice, the Officer-in-Charge of your area will make available a competent and interested police officer to act as Liaison Officer
  • Support of the Community
It is a requirement that after all petitioning has been completed, the community support indicated by the number of signatures is at least 70%
  • The programme is not launched for any Political or Sectarian reason
At all times, it must be non-political and non-sectarian
  • Civilian Coordinators are in place.
The more coordinators that are in place prior to launch, the easier it is to manage the programme

REMEMBER: before the launch of a programme can be approved, all the previously listed criteria must have been satisfied.

The final approval for the implementation for each and every programme will be vested with the Regional Assistant Commissioner and the NHW State Coordinator.
