Site Selection
Before
setting up a shopfront, an evaluation or feasibility study is conducted to
ascertain the suitability of an area.
The selection of the site recognises that each shopping centre will be different in relation to its location, the demographic make-up of the area and its size and facilities. Some of the selection criteria used are:
- Crime statistics that support the need for a shopfront;
- Public prominence - located in high population centres;
- Cost to Police Service and adequacy of the premises;
- Availability of suitable staff;
- Attractively negotiated leasing arrangements;
- Accessibility and exposure to the community; and
- Community access - easily accessible and appealing to members of the community.
