Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) is an internationally recognised program which helps to improve the quality of life within a neighbourhood by reducing crime and enhancing community safety.
It aims to help people protect themselves and their properties and to reduce the fear of crime by improving home security, encouraging greater vigilance and fostering a community spirit.
NHW has been operating in Queensland since 1988. The Queensland Police Service supports Neighbourhood Watch Queensland (NHWQ) by providing groups with relevant and timely information and a variety of community safety strategies.
The social media platform that the QPS is using to renew and reinvogerate NHW are blogs and these are being created and rolled out through 2014. The 2014 NHWQ State Conference will be held in Caloundra on Saturday 18 October and further details can be viewed on the blog at www.nhwq.org
