Margaret House

Margaret House

Margaret House in Townsville was named after Margaret, wife of District Inspector Mike Cartmill.  Margaret undertook extensive voluntary work to help police families within the District, although she was very ill at the time.  Margaret died in February, 1998.  Margaret House was officially opened in Parch, 1998.  Margaret House provides accomodation for police employees and their families who require emergency accomodation at Townsville. Townsville is the main centre for the vast northern interior of the state and contains many small townships which are serviced by small police stations. Townsville, along with Cairns, provides the main medical and support facilities for northern Queensland.

Inquiries in relation to accommodation at Margaret House should be directed to the Northern Region CSP Committee or through your local HSO.
