When you are Leaving Queensland

When you are ready to leave Queensland and use the baggage terminal at the airport or forward unaccompanied luggage, remember to secure your property effectively.

Lock your bags when they are out of your sight. If they cannot be locked, seal them with tape for example so that it is easy to see if they have been tampered with.

The smuggling of native flora and fauna out of Australia is a serious offence in all states of Australia. The detection rate for these offences is very high and offenders receive large fines, deportation and/or possible imprisonment for their actions. If you know of anybody considering making money by committing such serious smuggling offences, advise them that Customs, Federal Police, National Parks and Wildlife Officers and Queensland Police are well equipped to detect smuggling scams.

TourSafe Tip: NEVER carry someone else's bag, regardless of what they offer or what they say. You may become the unwitting carrier of illegal items.
