Message from the Commissioner of Police

Commissioner of PoliceMeeting the challenge of delivering and maintaining a high quality, 24/7 policing service to the fastest growing and most decentralised State in Australia, requires the Queensland Police Service to continue to focus on professionalism, performance, people and partnerships, to ensure core policing services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Policelink will achieve this by delivering a range of core non-urgent services through the multi-channel contact centre and particularly through the introduction of the national non-urgent police phone number - 131 444.

With the introduction of Policelink, we are encouraging everyone to think first. If the crime is not happening now, or the incident is not life threatening or there is little likelihood of the suspected offenders still being in the area, we ask you to consider phoning Policelink on 131 444 for non-urgent assistance.

Policelink 131 444 is an easy to remember number, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to contact police to report non-urgent incidents or make general enquiries. Professionally trained QPS Client Service Officers will respond to your call from the purpose built Policelink Contact Centre in south-east Queensland.

The introduction of Policelink 131 444, will positively impact on the availability of officers to respond to true Triple Zero emergencies. Your non-urgent report to Policelink is important and will be handled efficiently and effectively.

The new statewide service will also assist officers managing crime in your local area by identifying emerging crime trends from the information you provide when you make a report to Policelink.

I trust that you will welcome Policelink 131 444 as it delivers major enhancements to the high quality policing and crime reporting services delivered by the Queensland Police Service.
