Q: What are the in-vehicle requirements for restraints for a child under 4 years of age?It is recommended that you go through the Queensland Transport website for information concerning the fitting requirements, use and positioning of child restraints in vehicles.
Section 266 of the Transport Operations (Road Use Management - Road Rules) Regulation 1999 (Qld) requires that all children under the age of 16 years are required to be restrained in a suitably approved restraint that is properly secured and fastened. It is also recommended that you access the Kid Safe web site for information concerning the child and infant restraints that are the most suitable for your requirements.
Q: What are the current penalties for not wearing a seatbelt?On 1 November 2004, the penailties for not wearing a seatbelt were increased in an attempt to reduce the loss of life on our roads. The following table details the updated penalties for failing to wear a seat belt.
