Registering an Unregistered Firearm
If you come into possession of an unregistered firearm you must take immediate action to ensure the firearm is surrendered either to a Queensland firearms dealer or a Queensland Police Station for safekeeping.
If the owner is unknown the weapon will be dealt with as found property.
If you wish to acquire the firearm in either circumstance you may apply for a Permit to Acquire
Unregistered weapons/firearms cannot be held in safekeeping by another licensed person until the item is registered on the Commissioner’s firearms register. All licences are conditioned for the possession of registered weapons only.
