When my Firearm is Lost or Stolen

A person who owns or possesses a weapon that, while in their ownership or possession, is, or apparently is, lost or stolen must report the loss or theft to a police officer immediately the person becomes aware of the loss or theft.

An occurrence number is to be obtained from the officer taking the report and submitted to Weapons Licensing.  This is retained by Weapons Licensing for future reference.

Failure to report the loss or theft may result in prosecution of an offence under Section 60A of the Weapons Act 1990 and action against your licence.
