Crossbow Information for Dealers

I am a licensed dealer. Am I able to deal in category M (g) crossbows?

Yes. A licensed dealer must make application for category M to be endorsed on their dealers licence in order to deal in category M (g) crossbows.

An application must be in the approved form and accompanied by the scheduled fee of $8.00. The approved form in this instance is Form 4B (Form 4B|55294|application/pdf 54 KB) Application for change of weapons category and/or change of condition(s) of a licence, permit or approval."

Applications must be lodged in person at a Queensland Police Station.

I am not a licensed dealer. From where can I obtain an application form?

Your local Police Station can supply the necessary application forms. These forms consist of the following:


Do my employees have to be licensed?

Yes.Under section 70 of the Weapons Act 1990, any employee who handles weapons must hold a licence. These employees, under section 70, would be qualified weapons employees and they must be:

  1. at least 18 years; and
  2. hold a licence

In the course of employment as a qualified weapons employee, a person may possess any category of weapon his or her employer is authorised to possess.
