Foreword

The Queensland legislation controlling firearms, weapons and other items is the Weapons Act 1990. Throughout this information site, firearms have been referred to as weapons of a particular category for the purpose of consistency.
The definition of “weapon” is:

  1. a firearm; or
  2. another thing prescribed under a regulation to be a weapon or within a category of weapon; or
  3. a thing that would be a weapon mentioned in paragraph (a) or (b), if it were not temporarily inoperable or incomplete.
