Blank-fire Firearms Licence

Blank-Fire Licence - categories A, B, C, D and H weapons
Section 15 of the Weapons Regulation 1996 states that a blank-fire firearms licence may only be issued to (a) an individual; or (b) a theatrical organisation; or (c) an athletic or other sporting organisation.
A licence issued to an individual authorises the licensee to physically possess and use, for an authorised purpose, any blank-fire firearm in the category stated on the licence and owned by the licensee.
A licence issued to an organisation authorises the licensee to non-physically possess, for an authorised purpose, any blank-fire firearm in the category stated on the licence and owned by the licensee; and authorises the organisation's representative endorsed on the licence to physically possess and use, for an authorised purpose, any blank-fire firearm in the category endorsed on the licence and owned by the licensee.
An eligible person as provided by section 15 of the Weapons Regulations 1996 is a member who is eligible to hold a licence under this Act.
An "authorised purpose" means-
- For an individual who applied for the licence for theatrical productions- use in theatrical productions; or
- For a theatrical organisation- use in theatrical productions in the conduct of the organisation's activities; or
- For an individual who applied for the licence to start sporting events- starting sporting events; or
- For a sporting organisation-for starting sporting events in the conduct of the organisation's activities.
