Applying for a Blank-Fire Licence

The following is further information about applying for this specific licence type in addition to what is provided in “Obtaining a new licence”

It is important you refer to both the general steps in applying for a licence and the further information provided here.

This will ensure all necessary information is provided in your application.

To apply for a Blank-Fire licence, you will need to complete Form 1 – Application for a licence and lodge it at your local Queensland Police Station together with the required documentation and prescribed fee.  The following information or documentation must be included in your application:

  • A copy of a certificate or document certifying completion of the approved safety course for the categories of firearms applied for;
  • Full description of the activities undertaken by the individual or organisation for which the weapon/s are required;
  • Details and copies of certification of the registered business name or constituted name of the organisation (where the application is on behalf of a club). (Applications will only be approved in respect of registered businesses or recognised organisations);
  • Details of individual’s need;
  • Where applying for organisation, documented verification of the nominee's appointment by the organisation for the purpose of obtaining the licence.
