Applying for a Firearms Licence

The following is further information about applying for this specific licence type in addition to what is provided in “Obtaining a new licence”.

Sports or Target Shooting

A member of an approved Queensland shooting club (Category A, B, C* only) - For sports or target shooting, you need to provide proof that you are a current member of an approved shooting club. This may be a current membership card or a statement endorsed by the approved club.  To apply for this genuine reason complete Form 1 – Application for a Licence and Sport or Target Shooting annexure.


* For category C use at a club – you can only use a category C shotgun at a shooting club approved for clay target shooting however you must prove that you have a lack of physical dexterity (medical certificate will be required) that requires you to use this.  You must provide proof of your membership with a target shooting club approved for clay target shooting.
