Drug & Alcohol Coordination in the Queensland Police Service
Mission
To enhance the capacity of the Queensland Police Service to participate in a whole of government approach to prevent or minimise the harms associated with alcohol and drug use.
Services and Programs
Drug and Alcohol Coordination provides officers and management of the Queensland Police Service, other state government departments, national authorities and community agencies with the following services and programs:
- Strategic policy development, advice and review
- Risk management
- Research
- Unit development, management and marketing
- Information, training and resources; and
- Program management - current programs include:
- Drink Rite
- Police Diversion Program (

- Liquor Licensing Support Services
- QPS Drug and Alcohol Policy Secretariat
- Suicide Prevention Awareness

Structure/Staff
Drug and Alcohol Coordination operates under Operations Support Command through the Policing Advancement Branch.
Drug and Alcohol Coordination operates with seven staff.
The officer in charge is at the rank of Inspector. There is also a Senior Sergeant and five public servant positions.
