Cannabis (Marijuana)
Cannabis is a depressant
drug that slows the messages going to and from the brain. In large doses, cannabis
has mild hallucinogenic effects. Common names include grass, weed, hoch, pot,
hemp, reefer, herb, Mary Jane, leaf.

Forms
There are three forms of cannabis:
1. Marijuana - the leaf and flowers of the plant (a greyish-green colour).
"Skunk" (below) is a variation of the marijuana plant.

2. Hashish - small blocks of dried cannabis resin (usually brown or black).

3. Hashish oil - a thick oily liquid (golden brown to black)

Immediate Effects:
- a feeling of well being (euphoria)
- loss of inhibitions
- a tendency to talk and laugh more than usual
- impaired balance and coordination
- loss of concentration
- increased appetite
- increased pulse and heart rate
- reddened eyes.
