Community Consultative Committees
This information aims to provide police and members of the community with a step-by-step guide on how to set up a Community Consultative Committee (CCC). Incorporation is not the preferred goal of these committees, but if the need exists then an example of a charter for an incorporated body is at the end of the guide. Also provided is a meeting guide booklet.
Advantages for Police and Community
- Involvement of a cross section of the community
- Involvement of the Officer in Charge
- Those afraid to approach police can have input via a member
- In a controversial issue the Committee could assist with comment or support
- Senior police can become aware of problems before they get out of hand
- Potential problems can be solved early
