Here’s What You Thought of the Conference

NHW06col.jpg

Key Figures at the NHWConference included Host and Logan District Officer Superintendent Alex Erwin, with Master of Ceremonies Ms T Schultz, and Inspector Maurie Alker (Logan).

CONFERENCE ATTENDEES were asked to complete evaluations, which took the form of five questions to be rated from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest. The ratings were then grouped as 1-3 being low, 4-7 medium, and 8-10 high.

The results were as follows:

Q1. How do you rate the format of this conference? Low <1%, Med. 6%, High 93%.

Q2. How do you rate the opening session? Low 4%, Med 21%, High 75%.

Q3. How do you rate the workshops? Low <1%, Med 5%, High 94%.

Q4. How do you rate the dinner and awards? Low <1%, Med 7%, High 92%.

Q5. How do you rate the venue? Low 0%, Med 4%, High 96%.

A summary of comments included the following:

Negative: Handouts should have been included; No question time; No segment on NHW; Should have issued nametags; Tea and coffee on arrival; Opening speeches too long; and Mobiles to be turned off.

Positive: Informative; Great venue; Positive; Best conference in years; Well planned; Terrific; Great wait staff; and Excellent speakers.

All comments will be taken into consideration for future conferences. Sincere thanks to all who completed the evaluations. It can be clearly seen that the NHW Conference 2002 was an outstanding success.

Participants should now have a better understanding of:

Youth & Inhalant Abuse;

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (will you ever look at a toilet the same way again?);

Fraud and E-Safety; and

Culture (there were some resounding renditions of ‘We are Australian’).

We trust that the workshops got everyone thinking, and members should be able to take something out of each of them and apply these lessons to their own NHW Areas.

If you have any additional comments in relation to the success or otherwise of this year’s Conference, we would be grateful if you could send it to us here at State Office for consideration for future Conferences/State Rallies.
