Keeping Your Records Confidential
In recent times, there have been numerous inquiries from many and varied persons, businesses, organisations and politicians, requesting particulars of NHW areas at local, district and state levels in order to communicate directly with them.
SECTION 6.1 of the NHW Administrative Procedures Manual states:
“The personal details of the area coordinator and other NHW members are to be treated as confidential.”
Further to this, Section 4.1 of the NHW Charter states:
“The program shall be apolitical, non-sectarian, and open for all community members within the program area.”
With this policy in mind, State Office and other Police decline to provide your personal particulars to any person or organisation.
Any amendments to the Administration Manual or Commissioner’s Charter can only be made via wide consultation with all related parties. This consultation will be undertaken in the near future, and your input will be greatly appreciated.
The purpose of NHW is spelt out in its four objectives, namely:
1. To improve personal safety and household security,
2. Report suspicious activity
3. Engrave property, and,
4. Market the program to residents and business people within the area.
Therefore, regardless of the type of enquiry received, NHW particulars are not given out.
