Like a Moth to the Flame

ROCKHAMPTON DISTRICT

A resident who recently had an alarm fitted to his house was out one day when the alarm was activated. The neighbour, who knew he was not at home, rang the police immediately.

The police arrived quickly and checked the house, to find that the alarm had been activated by a moth! The resident however was grateful to his neighbour and to police for such prompt action. It’s just another benefit of knowing your neighbours.

Call leads to Arrest

FERNY HILLS

A phone call to police by a Gap resident led to the arrest of 2 men on 6 charges including car theft, traffic and drug offences. The call came after the report of a car being driven erratically.

The stolen car was pursued by police, followed by a 10 minute on-foot chase, after which the pair where taken to Ferny Grove Station.

Congratulations on the good work of both police and the public in apprehending this pair.

Taken to the Cleaners

BOONDALL 7

Late one night, an elderly lady in the Aspley area was home while a burglar entered her premises.

She grabbed the phone to dial the police, pushing the wrong number and contacting the Aspley Hornets cleaner by mistake. The cleaner realised she was distressed and called the police, who came to her attendance.

We would like to say thank you to the cleaner who helped this lady out.

Bedroom Eyes

BROADBEACH WATERS

Police apprehended an offender hiding under the bed of a dwelling after neighbours contacted police when they saw the offender attempting to gain entry.

The ‘bedroom bandit’ apparently used secateurs to open a rear window before entering via the kitchen and into the bedroom.
