Congratulations to Philip and Doreen Barnes who received Gold Awards for their outstanding contribution to NHW.

Philip and Doreen earned their badges of honour through 14 years of dedication to Tugun West NHW (Coolangatta 1) as Area Coordinator and Secretary. The awards were presented by ConstableTracey Clouston and Inspector Tony Marks, and the event was televised by Channel Nine.

Petrie 5 (Bray Park) NHW celebrated a decade of community commitment on the 2nd June. At a dinner with committee members, long standing Zone and Block coordinators were awarded silver and bronze lapel badges and certificates.

Mount Morgan, a small town near Rockhampton has a dedicated Neighbourhood Watch group which has been together for 7 years. This photo, featuring NHW members on a swinging footbridge commemorates their NHW meeting place called Foot Bridge Corner.

On Tuesday 20th May, the members of Bribie Island 1 NHW (Bongaree) presented a cheque for $550 to the local Rural Bushfire Brigade. The money, which was raised through advertisers supporting the Bongaree NHW newsletter, will be used to purchase a handheld VHF radio for the Bribie Island Fire Station. It will assist in communications between the Station and Rural Fire Brigade during emergency fires on the island. State Office would like to commend Bongaree NHW for dedicating their funds to such a worthwhile cause.
