From State Office

Welcome to the first issue of the NHW State Newsletter for 2004. We hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday period. I personally would like to thank Rodney and Bre who held the fort while I was away from October to February relieving in the office of 'Tourist Oriented Policing' and annual leave. As usual they did a sterling job and no one noticed my absence…

The production of the state newsletter is one of the methods that is used to communicate NHW issues of a contemporary nature. The state newsletter is a major budgetary cost incurred by state office, and paid for using sponsorship monies. In each mail out 'returns' are received, and we are also aware that not all areas utilise the newsletter in its intended way.

In an endeavour to address this costly issue it has been decided to reduce the number of newsletters printed. To ascertain the correct number of copies required it is requested that each area fill out the questionnaire advising the exact number of newsletters required. Be further advised that a hard line will be taken in relation to newsletter numbers. If responses to the questionnaire are not received by 31 March 2004, mailed newsletters will automatically be reduced.

On a lighter note, the Steering Committee for the State Rally have begun meeting, and once again the rally will be the cumulative highlight of the NHW year. For more information on the rally, read Rodney's report on page 3.
