Good Neighbours Get Recognised

Saturday 10th of January found the good neighbours of Burpengary Central NHW joining together to celebrate the launch of their exciting new 'Good Neighbours' scheme.

The mission of NHW is to promote safety, security and quality of life for residents. It is also about encouraging interaction and a sense of responsibility between neighbours and communities. Burpengary Central has expanded on this theme by creating the 'Good Neighbours' award.

A monthly 'Good Neighbour' certificate will be presented to individuals who constantly help and watch out for each other. Residents are asked to report any good deed or charity work done by an individual to the committee. At the end of the year a 'Good Neighbour of the Year' will be chosen and presented with a medallion and perpetual shield.

Area Coordinator June Nicotra believes that this scheme will help bring an already close community even closer, and will help keep the crime rate down by giving residents even more incentive to help and 'Watch Out'.

Of course the committee, zone and blockies already deserve a 'Good Neighbour' award for the great work they do for NHW and for the community!
