Russel Island Makes its Mark

Wynnum DCPC Sgt Joe Cranitch visited Russell Island State School in November for a special bicycle day, coordinated by NHW and the local school. Over 40 bikes and scooters were engraved with the child’s unique identification code, which is then recorded on Police systems. Should a bike be stolen or found, the number can then be used as a tracking device to find the rightful owner. Joe also had the opportunity of speaking to the whole school about bike safety, security and maintenance.

This type of initiative is a wonderful example of how NHW can include your local school in NHW activities and in educating kids about ways to make their community a safer place to live.
