New Years Resolution
The Dispute Resolution Centre, as a part of the Department of Justice and Attorney General has been established to assist people in the community to resolve their disputes or disagreements.
Trained Mediators are available to sit down with parties in dispute and guide discussions so that an agreement can be worked out. Staff and Mediators do not take sides, their aim is to assist all parties to resolve any differences in a fair and acceptable way.
Mediation can be used for a wide range of disputes from conflict between neighbours (even issues such as fencing, pets, noise or trees), disputes in the workplace between colleagues or management and staff, commercial or business disputes, or family conflicts.
Mediation is a great way to try and resolve conflict as it allows you to talk about the issue openly and in confidentiality, assists with helping you make a decision and saves time and money. In almost all cases, mediation is free of charge. Experience shows that there is about a 90% chance of resolving issues through this process. Staff from the Dispute Resolution Centre will even make all the arrangements for meeting times and places suitable to everyone.
