'Prevent theft - It starts with you'

This year's Crime Prevention Week will focus on the theme 'Prevent theft - It starts with you'. Running from Sunday October 3 to Friday October 8, the week highlights a variety of initiatives and projects designed to promote community engagement and partnerships.

Throughout the week police and community groups will work together to promote different crime prevention initiatives designed to keep our communities safer. Each day will focus on specific strategies based around the theme 'Prevent theft - It starts with you':

Mon 4 Personal Safety - Seniors/ Schools/Youth
Tue 5 Business - Retail Theft and Fraud
Wed 6 Internet/Technology/Identity Theft
Thu 7 Tourist/Tourist Oriented Policing
Fri 8 Location Theft - House/High Rise/Building Sites/ATM's

Crime Prevention Week aims to raise community awareness of crime prevention strategies and partnerships designed to promote and protect our daily living environment, and to encourage further community participation in crime prevention. It is a great opportunity to remind everyone that there is lots of things people can do to help keep the community safer throughout the year.

Crime Prevention Week involves concerns relevant to every member of the community. The Crime Prevention Week website will be regularly updated as activities and events are organised for October, so stay tuned and see how you can get involved.
