Bundaberg residents made their mark in May and June with the advent of the Engrave & Save project. The project aimed to mark and label for identification as many bicycles as possible at Bundaberg schools, as well as other property which was marked at the Bundaberg Police Beat on Saturday mornings.

Working in conjunction with Police, Volunteers In Policing and the Lions Club, Bundaberg Neighbourhood Watch groups used the opportunity to educate both children and adults about property security, bicycle safety and the NHW program.

Local bicycle retailers provided a new bicycle and other prizes as incentives for students to have their bicycles engraved. Roadworthy checks were also conducted at the time. Nearly 900 bicycles were engraved, as well as other perambulators including wheelchairs, strollers, and even a walking stick. The owner inscription details were then entered onto the QPS Property Tracing System.

Congratulations to all involved in helping keep your community safe, and your property where it belongs!
