Seniors Week 2004

Seniors Week - 2004

Seniors Week 2004 will be celebrated throughout Queensland from Saturday 14 August to Sunday 22 August.

Celebrating the diversity of older people in Queensland and promoting healthy ageing, this year's theme 'Ageing - Everybody's doing it' emphasizes ageing not only as something that affects the entire community but also as a positive part of everyone's lives.

The Queensland Government has provided $100,000 in the form of grants to community groups and local government for Seniors Week 2004 activities. Last year community groups and local governments across Queensland received funding for a range of activities including computer sessions, sporting events, dances, concerts, expos, parades, festivals, fetes and grandparent days. Many of these projects involved exciting opportunities for children and seniors to share their experiences.

To find out more about the range of local events in your area visit the Seniors Week website at http://www.communities.qld.gov.au/seniors or contact Tania Roberts on 3224 7656 / 1300 132 654.
