From State Office
Welcome to the Autumn edition of the NHW newsletter, and the first for the New Year. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.
This year brings many new projects into being for NHW. Perhaps the largest project we envision is that of the NHW Evaluation. Like our own lives, NHW needs to continually revaluate what our objectives are and where we are heading. With the last NHW evaluation taking place in 1996 it is timely that we should once again examine the role of NHW.
The Research and Evaluation Unit of the Queensland Police Service is currently undertaking a two-stage review of the NHW program. Stage one will be a desktop review of current NHW literature to explore the logic of NHW in both theory and practise. Stage two of the project will draw on Queensland, national and international practises to determine a ‘good practise’ guide to the operation of NHW. This stage will provide opportunities for persons interested in NHW to give comment and feedback on the direction of NHW Queensland. Progress of the review and opportunities for involvement will be advised in due course.
