New System Makes Crim Stats More Available
The Integrated Policing Solution (IPS) is a policing information system that will soon be introduced in the Queensland Police Service (QPS). Over time, the IPS will replace many of the hundreds of systems currently in use by the QPS to manage all types of policing incidents.
When fully implemented, the IPS will provide a single point of access for any information police need about any type of incident. This will make it much easier and faster for police to find information.
The IPS will also enable NHW liaison officers to provide NHW groups with better information about what is going on in their area, faster.
Once the IPS has been fully implemented, NHW liaison officers will be able to produce maps, graphs or tables showing any crimes/particular types of crimes that have occurred in the NHW area over a specified time. For example, the liaison officer could produce a map of all break and enters or car thefts in a month, or since the last NHW meeting.
The IPS project team are now entering the boundaries of all 700 NHW areas into the GIS (Geographical Information System) of the IPS, so that as soon as a crime is entered into the new system, police will know what NHW area it has occurred in.
The IPS will start to be implemented in the QPS from early next year, with all crime being managed in the new system from the 4th quarter of 2006.
