FROM STATE OFFICE
Over the past 4 years the NHW Program has been ably led by Sgt Wayne Rasmussen.  Wayne was recently promoted to the rank of Senior Sergeant and has moved to a supervisory role with the State Crime Prevention Unit.  Wayne will still provide assistance to the program in his new role. During Wayne’s time as State Coordinator he has been responsible for many improvements to the program.

WURTULLA WEST WORK WONDERS
The Wurtulla West NHW recently undertook a kerb side numbering project as a result  difficulty in locating individual residences by emergency services vehicles.  With financial support from their local councillor, a small band of twelve residents braved rather hot and humid conditions in October and November to number all 630 homes

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT DOWN
The Australian Institute of Criminology has recently reported that over the past four years the rate of stolen motor vehicles has declined significantly. In 2003-04 there were 88,030 vehicles stolen in Australia. Not unexpectedly trucks, plant/equipment and buses were the least likely to be stolen.
