Interactive Online Atlas Available
Queensland's first publicly available online atlas was officially launched recently by Natural Resources and Mines Minister Henry Palaszczuk.
Mr Palaszczuk said the atlas, located at www.information.qld.gov.au, was a smart way of accessing government information.
"Queenslanders can now discover information about the state's regions, councils, towns and suburbs using interactive mapping tools. They can, quite simply, navigate Queensland online, anytime - from home, work, school or the library" Mr Palaszczuk said.
The atlas provides a wide variety of government information at one place on the internet and allows people to customise the way they view information. Over the next three years the atlas will be extended to include all appropriate information held by departments and agencies - from population trends to online pay-as-you-go information services.
The atlas will eventually be integrated with Government Gateway services online to provide a customer-focused one-stop shop portal for the future.
The atlas was developed by Information Queensland, a whole-of-government three-year program launched in 2004 to improve public access to government information via the internet
