Surf Safety On-Line

A new project aimed at ensuring surfing the internet can be done safely has been developed by the Queensland Police Service. Called “Surf Safely” the project provides on–line personal safety tips for adults and children using the internet.
The project asks internet users to ‘Remember the 5R’s’:Surf Safely Logo

  • Realise - Realise people you chat with may not be who they say they are.
  • Refuse - Refuse requests for personal information and ensure your internet profile is private.
  • Review - Review your contacts. It's not "kewl" to have contacts you don't know.
  • Respond - Respond quickly if you ever feel uncomfortable while on-line. Close the program, tell your parents or a trusted friend.
  • Report - Report any suspicious or dangerous on-line contact to the police
