How to Mark Your Property

Using an engraver

Engravers are available for loan from your local police station or Neighbourhood Watch Area Coordinator (at no cost)

Seek operating advice before using an engraver. Not all items are suitable for marking by electric engraver.

The following items should be photographed or videotaped, with a ruler or matchbox beside them to assist in determing size.

What Code to Use

Property identification involves marking your property with a personal code.

How to make up your code

The first initial of your first name, the first initial of your family name, date of birth, and the letter Q which signifies Queensland.
For example:

What To Do Next

After identifying your property:

1. Complete attached form.
2. Cut it out.
3. Take it to your local Police Station.

The Police will then record the details from this form onto the Police Property Tracing System.
