Objectives and Principal Activities of the Department The objective of the Department of Police is to serve the people of Queensland by protecting life and property, preserving peace and safety, preventing crime and upholding the law in a manner which has regard for the public good and the rights of the individual. The department is funded for the outputs it delivers principally by parliamentary appropriations. It also provides the following on a fee for service basis:
