Deputy Commissioner: Ian Stewart

The Deputy Commissioner (Specialist Operations) is responsible for the provision of specialist police services including Security Planning and Coordination, State Crime Operations and Operations Support. The Deputy Commissioner (Specialist Operations) is also responsible for overviewing the Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) Police group, Ethical Standards Command, Media and Public Affairs Branch, and Office of the QPS Solicitor.

The CMC Police Group performs duties within the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Misconduct and Witness Protection of the Crime and Misconduct Commission.

  • legal matters other than those that are the responsibility of Legal Services Branch
  • risk management issues and strategies to minimise legal action against the organisation and its employees.

Operations Support Command supports regional operations by maintaining a range of specialist support functions that can be accessed and utilised to enhance local policing responses to incidents and events. State Crime Operations Command

Assistant Commissioner: Ross Barnett

State Crime Operations Command provides a professional and holistic response to crime within Queensland. Predominantly staffed by plain-clothes officers and qualified staff members, the Command supports regions through the provision of investigative resources, intelligence assessments, investigative interviewing techniques, research findings and professional legal, financial and technical advice. The Command has a statewide responsibility for identifying, investigating and suppressing criminal activity and criminal networks. In addition, the Command has a whole of Service responsibility for the provision of quality research, strategic intelligence and specialised investigative and intelligence training.
